14.1 at C R O S S F I T 209

14.1 at Crossfit 209

As for 14.1, that workout was nasty. For me specifically because double unders have always been a nuisance. I understand that double unders are a great cardio workout, but for someone who has never gotten the rhythm of double unders (after attempting to perfect the movement) it was a bit frustrating. My score was 174. After looking at the finer details I discovered that I could've used a 65 pound bar being that I'm 43 years old and a master. But it's not like I'm going to be competing in the CrossFit Games anytime soon, so 75 pounds will do.

On the other hand, Heidi did an excellent job and scored 220, and she felt as if she could have done better. Heidi is getting stronger and fast every year. I believe she could be a Games competitor if she continues to progress.

As for our experience, we are doing our open workouts at CrossFit 209 this year. The staff/trainers and clients are fantastic. Curt Johnson a Games competitor did my counting, and I got to count for him. What an honor to be able to be a part of watching him compete in the open. He scored 256 and at the time was seventh in the world. Kurt competed last year in the games and finished in the top 10. I strongly believe he will do better this year, he is a true firebreather.

Heidi was able to have Amie Mascara count for her. Amie and her hubby Matt are "regulars" at 209 and good friends of WODVILLE.

I've already said it in a prior review, but we absolutely love training with Vince Carter. He is a great motivator and helps to keep you on task when you hit that wall. Coach Xavier "X" Casillas and a few other trainers were in house this week. All of the trainers were actively working the room and motivating their clients!

14.1 for me was so-so, Heidi enjoyed it! But as for our experience at 209 and getting to compete in the open, we had a blast!

  1. The trainers at CF 209 Sport were right in having complete 14.1 with a 75lb bar. Masters who are able to compete with a 65lb bar are 55+ years old. MASTERS MEN - includes Masters Men 55+
Complete as many rounds and reps as possible in 10 minutes of:
    30 double-unders
    65-lb. power snatches, 15 reps

Good job. Double unders are also my nemesis...

I agree, the ppl at CF 209 Sport are excellent; in and out of the box.
