Meet the Authors

We are a husband and wife team. We have two amazing boys and the typical busy schedule. In a very long weight loss road we have come to love everything CrossFit. Hopefully you enjoy our finds and they are useful to you as well.

Heidi M Hensley
Typically if you ask, I will tell you that I am a child of God, mom of two, wife of 18 years and a full time Director of Children and Family Ministries. CrossFit fits into every level of that list, and I am grateful for that. Much like many women, I have battled my weight most of my life, I was 267 pounds at my heaviest. After taking off a good majority of the weight, I injured my neck and regained nearly 60 pounds. My physical therapist told me to start looking into lifting to build muscles around my spine. Little did I know, this endeavor would become a major life change for my husband and I. I now wear a very comfortable size 8 and lead a much healthier lifestyle. So where do reviews come in? Like those women who are not barbie perfect, those women who have had kids and things aren't the same, those women who try on 20 pairs of exercise pants and walk away with one, I want good products! I want to be feminine, curvy, modest, and still stylish when I hit the gym. I love neon, crazy prints, anything pink and will still growl when I deadlift. The search for "classy sassy" workout wear that is flattering and useful tools is what has motivated me to write these reviews.  I hope you enjoy my rants, and find some products you will love for your WOD time. My goal, to find the perfect tank top or design it myself!

Jason Hensley I love my wife (AKA Wonder Woman) and my 2 boys! I’m a child of the King (Christian). I teach Sunday School every week to 5th and 6th graders. I’m also a Crossfitter!

Two and a half years ago I was pushing 300 pounds. I am a police officer and had a hard time doing the job. We had looked for different ways to stay fit, but the activity never lasted. I had a friend from work and another friend from church tell me we needed to give Crossfit a shot. At first all I heard coming from their mouth was BLAH BLAH BLAH. A month or so later Heidi wanted to give it a try. We did our first WOD and almost died.

Since that time, I have lost about 90LBS . In college I lifted weights and played basketball for a small Christian college. Today at the age of 42, I’m stronger and in better shape. I get to lift right next to my wife, who by the way is a famine monster in the gym. We enjoy working out with another couple that has been crossfitting about the same amount of time as us.. Much love to the Hiblers!
Heidi and I are very excited about this project. WODville is going to be a fun blog for us to write reviews about apparel, gear, and boxes. I love Crossfit apparel and now I get to tell you about it. :-)

Matt HenmanAs a young man straight out of college, I wanted to jump out of planes and rescue downed pilots.  I started training with some of the guys at Fairchild AFB, and began the process of becoming a PJ Candidate.  As life would have it, this was not in the cards for me.  In MEPS the Doc said my heart was too big, (Not really—I have pulmonary valve stenosis.) and was cut from the program on the spot. It really affected me and I was crushed.   I love the dream big mentality!

I quickly turned the gears and started as a fitness professional in the Boise area working for Gold's Gym.  I led a team of Fitness Professionals to impact the people of Boise, and to become the best team we could be.  We closely followed the techniques of USA Weightlifting, CrossFit, NASM, and PARISI Speed School – just to name a few.  I was able to personally learn and train with the greats including Greg Glassman and Martin Rooney.

Gold's Gym nationally recognized our team two years running as the top fitness team in the nation. I was even asked to be a guest presenter at their national convention.  I was honored to speak to the best people in the fitness business on the topics of building a fitness team, and leading trainers to become experts of fitness.

Personally - I love to be active, hiking, fishing, exploring, running, biking, etc.  People are important to me.  Over the last two years, I have established a local Boise chapter of Team Red White and Blue (teamrwb.org).  We strive to connect with veterans and civilians, and help them all be more physically and socially active.  It's an incredible group.  I get to pour my heart and soul into people who really need and desire healthy community.

I also serve the college kids at Boise State University through a group called Young Life.  Our mission, regardless of a students' religious background, is to offer a fun, accepting community for college students to be a part of while exploring and deepening their faith.  I get to meet with a group of awesome guys on a weekly basis and share life's ups and downs (or happy's and crappy's as we call them).

I am proud to work with Heidi and Jason as we test gear and review some of the best of the best on the market!  3…2…1…GO!!!
